April 20 - April 22
Find PetDx at booth #44, and attend Dr. Chelsea Warren’s continuing education sessions.
Session One
- Title: Cancer detection in 2023: Can a blood test really find cancer?
- Date: Friday, April 21
- Time: 8:00 am – 8:50 am
- Meeting Room: Oncology
- Presenter: Chelsea Warren, DVM (PetDx Medical Science Liaison)
- Description: At its most fundamental level, cancer is a disease of the genome, meaning it is caused by alterations in DNA. This session will discuss a novel test to detect genomic alterations in the blood of dogs who have cancer, and how this test may be used as an innovative screening tool. A detailed review of the clinical validation of this next-generation sequencing-based “liquid biopsy” technology will be provided, along with a review of data from similar testing that is clinically available for use in human oncology patients.
Session Two
- Title: Real-world experience with blood-based “liquid biopsy” testing for cancer detection in dogs
- Date: Friday, April 21
- Time: 9:00 am – 9:50 am
- Meeting Room: Oncology
- Presenter: Chelsea Warren, DVM (PetDx Medical Science Liaison)
- Description: This session will provide up-to-date information about next-generation sequencing-based “liquid biopsy” testing for cancer detection in dogs. The presentation will provide an overview of recent clinical laboratory experience, along with a review of interesting case studies that demonstrate the use of this novel technology in the real-world veterinary clinical practice. Additionally, the topic of “when to start cancer screening” for dogs of various breeds and weights will be addressed based on data from a cohort of over 3,000 cancer-diagnosed dogs.
